Scarr Head is a small working farm at the foot of the Coniston mountains and just 2 miles South of Coniston village, where there is a good range of shops, hotels and restaurants.

Torver has 2 village pubs, Wilson's and Church House Inn. Both are within 10 minutes walking distance and both have restaurant facilities. Wilson's also has an adjoining Deli, which stocks a good range of food and general groceries

Hawkshead, Ambleside, Bowness & Windermere are easily accessible by car but if it’s peace and quiet you are looking for we are the perfect base for exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside.

Coniston lake can be reached by footpath in approximately 40 minutes and you can walk into Coniston along the lakeshore or catch the local ferry across the lake to Brantwood – home of John Ruskin. From Torver Village centre, Torver Trail takes you along a bridleway created on the old railway line
There are also a number of spectacular walks straight out of the farmyard, such as Walna Scarr, Coniston “Old Man” and a lower level walk to Beacon Tarn. The West Cumbrian coast holds many jewels including Muncaster Castle and the narrow gauge railway which runs from Ravenglass to Eskdale.
